I found this little flower in the forest - I just loved those tiny perfect white flowers along with the beautiful texture of the leaves. The photo drags my eyes towards the middle of the flower, where small new buds are on their way, it's sort of like a spiral with small stars in it :meow:

The flower is the same kind that I found earlier with a ladybug in it. That artwork was Ladybug VI:

As always, I would really like to hear your opinions on this photo :)

Are the colors too saturated in this piece? What do you think of the depth of field and the placement of focus in general? Should I have cropped the photo differently?

Any technical and/or qualitative feedback is very appreciated :)

For #GimmeFeedback

This is a nice photo. It's simple yet beautiful.
The colours are great, not too saturated at all. The greens are the perfect shade of green. The depth of field is good, everything that should be focused is, and everything that shouldn't, isn't. I'm glad you didn't place the flower in the center, off center works nicely, The only thing that I don't find too great about the photo is that in my opinion, it's a tad over-exposed. The white flower petals are way to white for my liking; there's not enough shadows, or depth in them. The look flat and 2-D. I'm thinking that maybe if the ISO Speed was a bit higher it would have been better. Like in your photo 'Lady Bug VI" the ISO speed is at 200 not 125 like you have here. The higher speed gave you more shadows and form in the petal, which I like better.

Other than the flower petals being too bright, I really enjoy the photo. It's nice and simple, and I love simplicity. You did a nice job.

beautiful cute flowers!

nah i think this is already fine, no need for too much saturations or even cropping :)
for what i see, the cropping in this piece is better than the ladybug

Great photo! I really like this! I'll try to answer a few of your questions you mentioned in the description. :aww:

:pointr: I don't think the colors are too saturated at all. They look wonderful, in fact. I love how everything is so green and then BAM!, you've got the white flowers instantly attracting your attention.

:pointr: I also think that the DOF is perfect. I love how the entire front leaf is in focus, instead of just the flowers like most photos. The focus helps our to be especially draw to the foreground, and creates a great sense of depth to the image. ^_^

:pointr: And finally, I don't think cropping the photo would've done any good. You wouldn't want to cut off part of the leaf or make the frame to tight, so I think the framing is wonderful. :aww:

I can't really find any crit on this. Wonderful work!

Maybe a little space on the right could have helped to focus me on the flowers. And the colors are not to saturate I like a little white color to help the flowers stand out.:)

The colours are fine to me. There's a great contrast. (:
I like the blurred parts, and the sharp ones. But I think a different perspective would've made this piece more interesting. It's a nice photo though, but it's not really catching ones attention for long.
The perspective is very... usual.

This is a perfect macro photo in my opinion.
The light is perfect, the position of the flowers are perfect, the out-of-focus part is perfect. I can't think of one thing I can possibly advise for improvement.

"Saturation": Check.
"Depth of field and placement of focus in general": Check.
If the missing word up there is "Crop ...the photo differently": No... it's a Go = Check.

By letting a viewer focus so much on those great little white flowers ...the obvious bright green buds soon to open... leaving most of the background a blur of slightly darker green ...with some black at the bottom to offset it... and by placing the flowers off-center...
You've got a stunning photo.
That's all I have to say regards a "critical/qualitative" comment.

All the 'Check'-s up there I wrote mean- "Great." You even got a :+fav: out this viewer.

I don't think the colours are too saturated, they just seem vibrant and bright to me. But a great bright, not a this-cannot-happen-in-real-life bright that sometimes appear...
As for the cropping, I love my photos with air on it, to say so, when they seem to go to the right or left, so I would leave it like that, foir me, its just perfect...
Awesome pic!

I like this! It's astonishingly sharp and not too saturated, although the background kind of blends in with the foreground, but that's not your fault :]

I love how you captured the texture of the leaves. The colors look perfectly saturated to me, and it makes the flower look much whiter when the leaves are so green.

My only critique is that the leaf to the left has a strange focus. It seems that the broadest part of the leaf, the part we should be drawn to, is too blurry. Maybe you could sharpen that part a little? Otherwise, this is magnificent.

Are the colors too saturated in this piece?
No, it's perfect! The green makes me feel happy and lively, though I have no idea why.

What do you think of the depth of field and the placement of focus in general?
I like the focus as it is,, and the depth of field suits my fancy. It makes the flower pop out and add to that liveliness.

Should I have cropped the photo differently?
I would have cropped the right and the top by half a centimetre, but that is just my personal preference. I like macro shots to be really closely cropped.

well, i'm saturnation addict, so no, it is not too much :) in fact i think you just hit the spot with this one, love the colors!

"What do you think of the depth of field and the placement of focus in general? Should I have cropped the photo differently?"
I think i would preferre if you cropped the right side few cm more... I'm perfectionist, and i count every cm :))

anyway, love the sharpnes of the pic and great colors!!

The saturation fine. Perhaps increase the brightness, but thats a small thought.
It might be me but I think the nettles in the foreground need a little more focus.
The way the photo is cropped is nicely done, as it makes the flower and leaf of the nettle look like it's coming out of the photo.
Good work

Hi! Great photo! I can see some detail in the flowers, but white is easily made to appear blobish. Lowering the Flash Compensation is what I've been trying to remember to do with a white subject, though you might have already done that here.
